White Shepherds

" Light up your life"

MINKA CD "Ghostcloud Nina"

Minka is our stunning and very clever girl, her Dam is Whitewolf Casper from Ghostcloud kennels in South Australia and her Sire is Whitepearl Karo. She is very affectionate, has a sweet nature and loooves any attention. She is also very brave, her absolute trust in us is amazing, we ask her to pose for photos in some scary situations, and she always leaps in with a happy smile and a wagging tail. Examples of this are in our photo gallery. Minka is happiest in our company whether she is working, playing, or just lounging around.

Bruce and Minka began trialing in Obedience in July 2006 and achieved their CCD title in October 2006 with a score of 99 on their 3rd Pass. A proud moment for all concerned and a great promotional achievement for our Whites in Australia!

Minka had a years rest from trialling in 2007 due to Bruce having other committments. They resumed trialling in 2008 and Minka has now gained her CD title.

Runner up BEST OF BREED 2003

In December 2003 Minka acheived Runner-up Best of Breed at the WSSDCA National Club show, (Calypso's Sire Murrays Ranger took out the coveted Best of Breed that year).

Judges Critique from the 2003 WSSDCA National Show:

My Runner up in show was a neuter bitch which will I am sure raise a few eyebrows, as under ANKC rules she would have been ineligible to compete for such an award. Firstly I Think the rule is stupid, it forces people to keep entire animals when it is not what the owner desires. Secondly as the situation stands right now the only White Shepherds which can compete in open competition (obedience, agility, jumping, tracking, flyball, herding etc) are neutered White Shepherds, this to me does mean that the neuters will play a far greater role in the promotion of the breed than the entires will and thus they do need greater recognition. The bitch was also an excellent specimen, nice head, lovely expression, ear set was brilliant, excellent angulations, good drive and very well handled. It was a very close call for me as a judge between my two "Best of " exhibits with the male coming out on top based mainly on his presence and character.

OH..TO BE A DOG BREEDERS HUSBAND
I'm just a dog breeder's husband,  I no longer rule my domain
Even if kindly invited, from opinions, I wisely refrain
I'm just a glorified kennel boy,  Of minor importance I know
It seems my primary function, Is merely providing the dough.
Now dog breeding's very expensive

As you all, no doubt are aware
But the problem's not so much the money
as the bustle, the wear and the tear
Having studied the layback of shoulder
and becoming an expert on feet
I still have not learnt to give worm pills
or how much a puppy should eat
My spouse will spend hours grooming,
her “Bred By Exhibitor bitch”
But when it comes to scratching my back
Her thought is to let the thing itch!
Now the highlight is definitely show day
The glamour, excitement, and fun
The dream of taking out Best of Breed
Or the realisation, that your dog has’nt won
At night in a crowded motel room
Now that the dog show is done
Someone questions the judge’s decision
And drunkenly slurs “Hell, I should’ve I won”
It appears the judges eyesight is failing
His errors in judgement immense
In fact if I did not know better
I would assume he was devoid of all sense
One finds that the amateur's bungling
Is no match for the professional’s skill
A good handler can hide what the owner admits
As he tries hard for his conscience to still
The din and the utter confusion
of everyone talking at once
Leaves one weary, hoarse and irascible
and the next day a bleary eyed dunce
Sometimes late in the evening, I'm asked if I do not agree-
That Pottowattamie's Bridget, Is somewhat out at the knee
But as I attempt to answer the question, I find that my thoughts are ignored
For some inexplicable reason, My questioner is suddenly bored
I'm only a dog breeder’s husband, Not that I mean to complain
But I find certain aspects amazing, When I aspire, or try to explain
I know at least where I’m going, I'm rapidly going to seed
But I've learned much about Winner's Bitches, I married the Best of Breed !!!
